Setsuko, a 55-year-old single 'office lady' in Tokyo, is given a blonde wig and a new identity, “Lucy,” by her young unconventional English instructor. “Lucy” awakens desires Setsuko never knew she had. When the instructor suddenly disappears, Setsuko must come to terms with what remains – herself.

About the filmmaker
Atsuko Hirayanagi was born in Nagano and raised in Chiba, Japan. She is a graduate of NYU Tisch School of The Arts, Asia, with an MFA in Film Production. Her thesis short, “Oh Lucy!” won numerous awards at prestigious international film festivals, such as the Short Jury Award: International Fiction at Sundance Film Festival 2015, 2nd place at 2014 Cannes International Film Festival (Cinéfondation Selection), an honorable mention at 2014 Toronto International Film Festival, and the Best International Short at 2015 Flickerfest in Australia. With her 2nd year project, Mou Ikkai, Atsuko was the first japanese female director to win the Grand Prix, at the Tokyo Short Shorts Film Festival in 2012. She’s a mother of two and a full contact karate black belt holder. She resides in San Francisco.
