-
Traditional film festivals: Organize screenings of the films only once and at one location only.
-
Red Dot Cinema: Organizes multiply screenings of the films at different cities around the world, allowing many people from diverse culture background to watch the films.
-
Traditional film festivals: Unless you are invited to the opening event or special talks, most audience watch the films and leave at the end.
-
Red Dot Cinema: We hold small discussion sessions at the end of the screening among the organizer, special guests, and all the audience at each screening event, so that people can vote for their favourite films, give their comments, discuss certain issues, and share their interpretation of the films to make the event interactive and meaningful.
-
Traditional film festivals: Are usually held at cinemas and theaters.
-
Red Dot Cinema: We made use of interesting and creative spaces for our screenings, such as cafes, bars, coworking spaces, art galleries, rooftops, boutiques, etc as part of the Red Dot Cinema experience. Without being restricted to a fixed seat of the cinema, participants are encourages to roam around and interact with one another in a causal setting.
Why doesn't Red Dot Cinema distribute films through online streaming?
-
We believe by focusing on physical screening events, Red Dot Cinema gives a different experience from online streaming.
-
Physical screening is an event which the participants anticipate, while online streaming can be viewed by an individual at their free time.
-
Physical screening provides a place where people come together for interaction, while online streaming is usually watched alone.
-
Physical screening grabs the attention of the participants throughout the whole program, while attention for online streaming is short an people often skip the content within the first few minutes into the film.
-
Physical screening can include other contents such as discussion, performances, Food & drinks, exhibition, talks, music etc to make the event fun and interesting, while all these are absent for online streaming.
